Lead Volunteers

Lead volunteers are typically chosen from among long-term tutors and enrichment volunteers. These volunteers assist the executive and assistant director with the day-to-day operations of delivering services to our students and fellow volunteers. Lead volunteers prepare the site and assist tutors with instruction issues. If you have previously volunteered with Leap Frog for at least a year and are interested in becoming a lead volunteer, please contact our executive director at leapfrogdirector@gmail.com.

All volunteers for Leap Frog are required to complete a background check prior to participating in our program.

Tutors

Leap Frog tutors must commit to tutoring two days a week for the entire semester. Tutors will either be present Monday and Wednesday, or Tuesday and Thursday, from 2:50 p.m. until 4:15 p.m. each day. Our students depend on tutor consistency, so it is imperative volunteers commit to the schedule from the start.

Tutors will work one-on-one with the same student, following a prescribed curriculum and schedule. These sessions will also be guided by feedback from the student’s teachers and any reading interventionists. Each semester will start with a group training for tutors and the potential to shadow an experienced volunteer. All Leap Frog volunteers must complete a background check before participating in our program.

Enrichment Volunteers

Leap Frog enrichment volunteers must commit to participating two days each week, either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday, from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m., for the entire semester. Enrichment volunteers help guide students through structured learning opportunities and participate in and supervise cooperative play time. Enrichment volunteers may need to administer minor first-aid (applying band-aids and ice packs).

Each semester starts with a group training. All Leap Frog volunteers must go through training and complete a background check before participating in our program.
